Most of what makes a day on the snow pleasant or miserable happens off the run, and that is the test for womens snow gear. You are on a wet bench, kneeling in slush to sort out a binding, then sitting still on a chairlift with the wind coming up underneath you. Trousers take the worst of that. Up top it is the same argument, which is why a ski jacket does up at the wrist and at the waist instead of hanging open.
