Quilted Jackets from $105
A quilted jacket keeps its warmth flat against you instead of letting it swell out like a puffer. That is the whole appeal. One goes under a coat, over a shirt, or on its own on a cool morning, without adding bulk anywhere.

Quilted Coats, Liner Jackets and Gilets
Quilting is stitching that holds wadding in place, so a jacket gets warmth without the loft of a puffer. That flatness is the reason one works as a liner, going under a heavier coat in July and coming out on its own in September. A gilet is the same idea with the sleeves left off, which frees the arm for a jumper underneath. Our men's quilted jackets hold these shapes on the men's side.
Summer Weight Quilting and Blazer Shapes
Weight is the second question. A lighter quilt takes the chill off an evening that turned cool, and it folds into a bag without taking up the day with it. A heavier one stands as the outer layer through the middle of winter, so nothing else is needed over the top. The blazer cut is the third option, quilted through the body but finished with a collar and a button front, which makes it the one that works over a shirt at a table.
